Getting to Eugene
The University of Oregon is located in Eugene, at the southern end of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, a two hour drive south of Portland. Eugene is served by an airport (EUG), Amtrak rail service, and major bus lines. The University of Oregon is easily accessible from Interstate 5.

Air travel
EUG: The Eugene Airport (EUG), conveniently located approximately ten miles from downtown and campus, is serviced by several major carriers, including United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant, Frontier, American Airlines, and Delta. Direct flights available from major hubs: Chicago, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland, Phoenix-Mesa, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, San Jose, and Seattle. For more, visit the Eugene Airport’s website.

PDX: Some visitors choose to fly into Portland International Airport (PDX) and drive two hours south to Eugene or take a shuttle service (e.g., Hut Shuttle Service, or Oregon Express Shuttle) from the Portland airport.

Ground transportation from/to EUG: Eugene Airport’s ground transportation website has helpful information about getting to town from the airport. Taking a taxi, Lyft, or Uber from the Eugene airport to the UO campus area takes ~25-30 minutes. Lyft/Uber costs ~$30, perhaps slightly more for taxi. Please refer to this map for designated Lyft/Uber pick-up and drop-off locations on campus. Some hotels have airport shuttles, which require advance reservations (again, see airport ground transportation website for details). You can also pre-book a shuttle to your destination via Hub Shuttle here ($23 per adult, plus $5 for each additional passenger).

Train or bus
For information about transport by train, contact Amtrak. Bus services between cities include Greyhound and Bolt. Within Eugene, bus transportation is available from Lane Transit District.

Traveling within Eugene
Eugene, and the neighboring city of Springfield, are well connected with a local bus service, operated by the Lane Transit District (LTD).  In particular, an express bus service, the EmX, runs between many points in Eugene, the University of Oregon campus, and downtown Springfield, roughly every 10 minutes during the day.  See the EmX website for more information. A single ride is $1.75 and a day pass is $3.50, and you can purchase your tickets at a machine at any EmX stop.

Taxis, Uber, and Lyft also operate in Eugene. Please refer to this map for designated pick-up and drop-off locations on campus.

Lodging

Please note that NWAV is taking place during a home football game weekend, which means that accommodations will be more limited than usual. We advise you to please book your accommodations early!

We have arranged for special NWAV conference rates at three local hotels; see below for details about how to reserve conference rates. In addition to these hotels with special rates, there are a range of other hotels and inns nearby (see e.g. Google Maps for additional nearby hotels), as well as plentiful Airbnb options.

The conference will be held at the Erb Memorial Union (EMU) and Straub Hall, at the center of the University of Oregon campus. See the Conference venue & information page for maps of the conference location.

Crash space + Room sharing:
Update: We are out of available crash space. Please do continue to use the google form below to coordinate room sharing! We plan to offer “crash space” to interested student registrants, to stay with local students. We note that this space is limited, so we may not be able to accommodate everyone. We have set up a Google form here for any interested attendees to coordinate room sharing, and also for students to request crash space. If you are a student interested in the crash space option, in addition to filling out the form, please also email the organizers at nwav48@gmail.com with the subject “Crash space”. If you are interested in room sharing only, please complete the Google form and coordinate amongst yourselves.
